Overview

The CAP Prize (Contemporary African Photography Prize) is an international award established in 2012 to recognize and promote outstanding photography that engages with the African continent or its diaspora.

Approach

In order to participate in this competition, I decided to photograph the Dantokpa market, one of the largest markets in West Africa. Through my shots, I aim to capture the intensity, the colors, the human interactions, and the cultural richness that make this place the true beating heart of Cotonou

My vision

My goal is to pay tribute to this daily hustle and bustle while offering a personal perspective on urban life in Benin.

My first years of higher education took place in Cotonou, between 2020 and 2023. In the evenings, after classes, I would walk through the streets to photograph scenes of everyday life, street lights, and everything that told the soul of the city through my lens.
